Troop focus

 

Philosophy: A boy run troop, Troop 540 provides youth an opportunity to grow mentally, physically, and socially, and to build character, foster citizenship, and develop leadership through a diverse and dynamic program.

 

Outings and Activities. 

Troop 540 offers a full range of scouting activities including weekly Troop meetings, monthly weekend outings, service projects to the community, a full week of Summer Camp, and an annual high adventure activity.  Outdoor activities embrace the complete scouting experience including: skiing and winter sports, white water rafting, field sports, pioneering, Maize Quest, Klondike, hiking and backpacking, theme parks, historic sites, battleship overnight, Splashdown, fishing, and beach camping.  In addition for older scouts, annual High Adventure experiences include Florida Sea Base (2006), Philmont (2007), and Northern Tier (2008).

Troop 540 is part of the National Pike District of the Baltimore Area Council.  Our Scoutmaster is Mr. Barrett and he can be reached at (443) 535-9584.

 

The Troop meets every Tuesday, except in August, at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, in Laurel, Maryland.  Meetings start at 7:30pm.
